Deal or No Deal?

About a week ago (no pun intended), the Cleveland Cavaliers have acquired guards J.R Smith and Iman Shumpert from the New York Knicks and a protected 2015 first round draft pick from the Oklahoma City Thunder. In exchange, the Cavaliers sent guard Dion Waiters to the Thunder, and Lou Amundson, Alex Kirk and its own 2019 second round draft pick to the New York Knicks. The Knicks also got forward Lance Thomas for OKC. The true question here is which team got the best deal of the trade? Obviously everyone will say the Cavaliers did because they have Smith and Shumpert to play alongside side Kyrie, LeBron, K. Love. Well, I'm here to tell you that you are wrong. I think the Oklahoma City Thunder got the best deal of this trade because in getting G Dion Waiters from Cleveland is a key spot OKC was looking for. Ever since James Harden left OKC to Houston, the Thunder have been slacking at the shooting guard position. the Thunder did have a defense minded shooting guard in Thabo Sefolosha, but I'm pretty certain the Thunder needed more than defense and 3 point shooting from him. So having Waiters playing alongside Westbrook and Durant will have teams in the NBA wondering how to stop the 3 headed dragon [Westbrook, Waiters, Durant]. With the addition of Waiters in the lineup maybe he was the piece the Thunder needed in order to win an NBA Championship. Who knows?
